"The underwater photography course I took with Nick was fun, challenging, and showed amazing results! During my 3-day course, I learned to operate my camera and strobe in full manual, as well as special breathing and positioning techniques to shoot my subjects up close and at the best angles.
Nick is an excellent instructor in that he is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge and very effectively communicates complex topics both in and out of the water. Because of the imaging skills I have learned from him, I can now proudly share my focused, colorful, and interesting underwater photos with my family and friends.
I highly recommend Nick’s courses!"

"As a teacher of 30 years I have undertaken more professional development activities than I can possibly remember, but the day and bit I spent with Nick was without doubt the most valuable, exciting and memorable PD I have experienced. Nick's knowledge of cameras – even my modest offering – was extraordinary, and his understanding of fish behaviour to pre-empt that “perfect shot” was incredible. I loved the way Nick supported and encouraged me with simple gestures and succinct messages on the magnetic board. The 3 dives I did with Nick were all very different but oh so valuable. I will never forget being in the middle of a bait ball with carnage going on all around me and all I could hear is Nick's excited squeals of excitement; yelling “shoot, shoot, shoot”. The best image of the Manta will adorn my office wall in the near future. What a day! And Nick got me back in time for my 29th wedding anniversary!!!
I have my notes and will refer to them in the future. It is also comforting to know that Nick offers further support via email, which extends long after I departed beautiful Palau".

"Despite
being a complete novice as an underwater photographer, Nick spent as
much time and care walking me through the basics and sharing his
knowledge with individual shots as though I were far more experienced.
Underwater, he was extremely patient, helping me get the best from my
camera as well as each individual photo subject. Among other things, he
has an amazing ability to draft long, informative notes on a
submersible tablet. After the course, unfortunately just one day in my
case, he spent an additional hour trying to sort out an equipment
problem for me. My words for him are indefatigable, meticulous, and
creative. My only regret is not having sufficient time on the last trip
to undertake an entire, three-day course".

"I have taken a seven day video class with Nick. What I learned is simply everything! Composing, Techniques, Cutting. And so on and on. If I would film on my own a year in row, I might not be as far as I am now. Worth every nickel. You spend thousands of bucks on equipment, put the dollar in and learn how to use it properly. It saves you from a lot of frustration. And Nick is a very good teacher. I enjoyed every minute we did the class together. You learn to appreciate the good shots of people and you realize how hard work it is to get it done. But if you see the final cut you realize that it is worth the hard work. I would do it again tomorrow”

"I
did 2 days with Nick and as a complete beginner to underwater video it
was just the start I needed. He showed me everything from the basics of
how to set up my camera right through to how to use it underwater and
basic aspects of composition. I can recommend Nick's courses to anyone
who wants to get to grips with this subject - it's not as easy as it
looks!"

"One
of the highlights .... was the underwater videographer course I took
with Nick. If you have a camcorder and want to leave your holiday with
great footage, I highly recommend his course! It was fantastic and well
worth it! I would return to Palau just to continue with his course!"

"I
have never taken a class where i felt i learned so much in such a short
time, as i did in Nick's class. Went in as a total beginner in
underwater photography, and ended up taken some pretty nice shots in
just two days. Got to know the basics in photography, and must say that
Nick is very patient and an excellent teacher. The class was every
dollar worth, and I am just sorry i didn't take this class long ago, as
i would have had much more fun with my camera underwater.

"Nick
Martorano has amazed me with knowledge of photography no one else has
displayed. I had multiple problems with my new underwater camera and
spent a lot of money trying to get the kind of pictures that this
camera should be able to take. All the underwater pictures I took came
out washed out blue with no true
color. I contacted the company representative and even spent time with
one of their highly regarded representatives. This did not solve my problem.
On my first time in the water with Nick he taught me
skills that immediately brought out good color and focus on my
pictures. During this same trip to Palau he even repaired my camera to
save the
trip from being a total waste.
Prior to my second day of diving Nick instructed me on methods to use
that no one had ever recommended. These procedures caused my
photography skills to go to an entirely new level. I took a complete
day of pictures with 100% true color and focus.
I
feel that the skills that nick taught me will contribute to a much more
productive and enjoyable trip with great underwater pictures. I will
continue to
travel to Palau to learn from Nick.
He is a true professional that is totally dedicated to helping others"

"Many
thanks for all the fun and the great photographic instruction. Nick is
extremely knowledgeable, a great artist and a great teacher.
The
underwater photography lesson resulted in the best underwater photos I
have ever taken -- some are already on my office wall. The Photo shop
lesson was extremely helpful in many areas important to editing
underwater photography.
After a little practice on the first days of my next trip to Palau, I will ask him for another underwater photography lesson.
Kindest regards"
